Now that you know our Top 10 tips for tailgating (Monday infographic) and half of our Top 10 vehicles for tailgating, we follow-up today with five more tailgating vehicles.
“In the starting lineup for any good tailgate party is the right vehicle,” says the infographic, which points in particular to one of the trucks on our list.
(The list, which is based on our survey of various automotive-related websites, is not a ranking of the vehicles, just 10 vehicles which made the cut.)
All vehicles on our list appeared on at least two other 2012-13 lists compiled by sources such as KBB.com, Cars.com, CarsDirect.com, Edmunds.com and Bankrate.com, as well as RoadandTrack.com, MotorTrend.com and FoxNews.com.
RoadLoans is a favored lender of KBB.com, Cars.com and other websites.
Following are the second five on our alphabetical list, mainly trucks and crossovers, with comments to help you decide which might be best for you:
Land Rover Range Rover – Road & Track calls this vehicle a star quarterback in tuxedo and tails, combining “a debonair aura with gritty determination.”
Mitsubishi Outlander – Its tailgate is “sturdy enough to withstand the rigors of any tailgate party,” capable of supporting up to 440 pounds, says Edmunds.
Ram 1500 – This is a favorite vehicle on most lists as “the ultimate pickup truck for tailgating.” Says MotorTrend.com: “The Ram comes with built-in coolers flanking the bed. Ram Box [version] can fit 240 and 280 cans of your favorite adult beverage.”
Subaru Outback – It’s “a top pick among utility crossovers, especially for those who frequently enjoy the great outdoors,” says Edmunds.com. Tailgating anyone?
Toyota 4Runner – Best known for its off-road capabilities, “it’s also up for the challenge of tailgating,” writes Clarke of Edmunds. “It’s available with a Party Mode feature that shifts the sound system’s output to the liftgate speakers.”
Well, there you have it. The list of lists to go with our Top 10 tips for tailgating. And the vehicles to help your parking-lot parties be the talk of the town.
