What a difference a year makes.
Car buyers deciding between new and used may be tempted by savings of more than 30 percent on a number of one-year-old models.
iSeeCars.com analyzed millions of sales between Aug. 1, 2017, and Jan. 24, 2018, to uncover eight low-mileage, nearly new vehicles that all sold for prices well below brand-new versions, making a clutch of luxury cars much more affordable, and dropping the price of some mainstream ones, too.
High-end models include the Cadillac XTS, which costs 38.7 percent less – a saving of $20,965 – when bought used over new, along with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Lincoln MKZ, Cadillac CTS and Infiniti Q50.
The mass-market cars highlighted by the research were the Toyota Camry, America’s best-selling car, the Jeep Compass SUV and Kia Sedona minivan.

Vehicles are ranked by the percentage difference in price when sold used over new, followed by the saving in dollars.

“Whether consumers buy a brand-new car or a lightly used version of the same model depends on how much the new technology, complete lack of wear and tear, and the new car smell are worth to them,” said Phong Ly, iSeeCars.com CEO.
“For some models, these features cost only a few thousand more, while for others they cost tens of thousands more. Consumers should keep these comparisons in mind as they decide whether to buy new or buy used.”
