There are a lot of good auto blogs online, and we think the RoadLoans blog is one of them.
But you may not know that RoadLoans is a direct-lending program of Santander Consumer USA (SC), which also has a blog providing more content intended to engage, inform and entertain readers interested in news and trends about or related to cars, trucks and SUVs.
Following are snippets of the best recent content on the SC blog and links to the posts:
Singing the summer driving blues
Summer has arrived.
So, it’s time to take action – or not – on all the car maintenance that should be done before the hottest weather arrives and you head out for weekends, road trips or vacations, or just drive around town.

Winners of Best Used Car Awards
Looking for a good used car?
CarGurus, a car-shopping and research website, thinks it can help. Especially if you’re a fan of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
FCA captured wins in four of seven categories in CarGurus’ Best Used Car Awards, and another three positions in the top three of each. Other automotive brands with more than one vehicle on the list of the top 21 were Ford and Toyota, with three each, and Hyundai and Subaru, with two apiece.

Know about credit before you owe
It should be no surprise.
Lenders provide more financing to borrowers with higher credit scores.
Borrowers with scores below 660 are chasing less than one-third of available credit – around $15 billion in March – for their vehicle purchases, based on data from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Knowing your credit score and details of your credit report before shopping for a vehicle will help you see how lenders view you relative to other borrowers, including how you manage your financial responsibilities and debt associated with your credit score.
Three words you never want to hear
Learn to drive!
Three words most of us have hollered at someone else on the road.
But how often do you suppose another driver is hollering the same thing at you – whether they’re right or wrong in their criticism?
You can find out for yourself at a website called driving-tests.org, which notes that “four out of 10 people fail their DMV [written] driving test the first time.” Several years ago, a CarInsurance.com survey found that 44 percent couldn’t get a passing score.
The question is, how many of us would fail it now, despite having a license?
