Road trip: Across the Rocky Mountains in Colorado
I departed from Dallas’ Love Field airport on Friday, June 14, en route to Vail, Colo. (see photo), to coach my summer lacrosse team in a tournament there. The trip was my first encounter with the magnificent Rocky Mountains. The team’s coaches flew to Denver and decided to remain there for the weekend before we went to the tournament, which started on Monday in Vail. While in Denver, which sits at the foot of the Rockies, we went to Red Rocks Park just outside of the city and hiked the trail:… Read More

GAP coverage insures vehicle owners’ satisfaction
I had several customers tell me on one day recently that they are very excited RoadLoans offers GAP coverage. One customer told me a story about when she had a collision and totaled her vehicle. She mentioned that she was stressed out enough having to call attorneys, go to the doctor, deal with the insurance companies and everything else that comes with having a bad accident. But when she found out that the insurance company was only paying off a portion of what she owed on her loan, she was completely crushed. Can you imagine still owing thousands of dollars on a… Read More

Road Trip: Gas prices may be less painful for summer vacation
Anyone who fills up the family vehicle’s gas tank regularly – and, let’s face it, that’s most of us – knows the meaning of the well-worn phrase “pain at the pump.” But that pain can hurt most on a summer vacation or road trip when fill-ups are most frequent. Still, motorists may catch a break this summer as average gas prices nationally are expected to run about $3.50 per gallon for road trips during the months June through September, down from the last two years, down even from an earlier prediction by the U.S. Energy Department’s Energy Information Administration. “U.S.… Read More

Special FIAT by Gucci Edition ready to hit the road again in North America
Hear the name Gucci, and cars aren’t usually what come to mind. The guru of high-fashion handbags and accessories is more quickly associated with fashion shows rather than auto shows. That’s unless you're talking about the FIAT by Gucci Edition 500 and 500c (Cabrio), because then the design partners suggest, success of the model is in the bag. Back by popular demand, the 2013 limited-edition 500 and 500c FIAT by Gucci Edition models will return to America with a new appearance inside and out while continuing to meet the popularity and market demand of the previous edition, according to the carmaker.… Read More

Warning to parents during ‘riskiest’ teen driving season; distracted driving growing worry
Summer, with its fun in the sun and warm nights, is the riskiest teen driving season of the year. And that flies in the face of most parents’ perceptions that winter is the most dangerous for teen driving, according to a new survey conducted by Penn Schoen Berland and commissioned by the Ford Motor Company. “As summer begins, what can be the most fun season of the year for teens can also be the riskiest,” said the survey, which revealed new insights about teen driving habits and perceptions. Summer months had the highest number of teen driver fatalities from 2007… Read More

Chrysler, other U.S. vehicle manufacturers favored by non-prime buyers
Three pickup trucks and eight U.S.-produced products are among the Top 10 used-vehicle choices for non-prime buyers, says a recent report. The three trucks, which were among the Top 5 used vehicles, were the Ram 1500 (No. 1), the Ford F-150 (No. 3) and the Chevy Silverado 1500 (No. 5). Only one of the Top 10 used vehicles – the Ram 1500 pickup – made the Top 10 new-vehicle list, the report said.
